Who will make you go bonkers if the jets draft? Easily #1 for me is jc latham, for as many good oline prospects if they take him at 10 I'll go off the deep end. Brian Thomas is just too risky for me. Any defensive player in the 1st three rounds ..read more

Mr. Irrelevant Prospects

If the Jets do not trade away the last pick, which draft prospect should be taken at 257th, the last pick, aka "Mr Irrelevant"? If the Jets do not take a QB earlier in the draft, hopefully they take a shot at Tanner Mordeci.  An older QB prospect that does not have franchise QB upside but could be a spot starter and long term backup.  Athletically matches up with Tyrod Taylor, but a better passer than Taylor was coming out of Virginia Tech.  Mordeci has limitations on his deeper throws, but good on short and intermediate throws.  Has played at three different schools (Oklah ..read more

During their draft discussion this morning on NFL radio, Polian was quoting someone he worked for/with (I didn't hear who) who basically said (paraphrasing):  WRs can be found at anytime (in the draft) but God doesn't make many 300+ lbs men with long arms who a can move well on their feet. When you have a chance to get one of them, you should ..read more

One Potential Draft Strategy That Hasn't Really Been Discussed

Trade down (maybe get an extra 3rd rounder) and take Bowers.  Trade the 2 3rd rounders to move up and grab a WR. The main difference in this strategy would be that it would add 2 weapons and ignore OL in the 1st 2 days.  The only way I could see JD doing this would be if he feels he has more depth at OL than fans think.  e.g. maybe he's very optimistic about Carter Warren ..read more

Very good WR eval/rankings for this year’s draft class

Interesting bits— —Top three are awesome, but Odunze being comped to DeAndre Hopkins and Dez Bryant makes me want to trade three firsts for him.  —Comp for Ladd McConkey? Garrett Wilson —Brian Thomas is ranked 4 based on athletic profile, but some troubling stuff in terms of actually catching and securing footballs through contact, which is where the sausage gets made. —If Adonai Mitchell is able to screw his head on properly, he could be the best receiver in this draft. Absurd athleticism, elite at the catch point, and can’t be covered if he doesn’t want to be covered, but sounds like a ..read more

Interesting comment on Sirius Movin The Chains re: QBs

Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan were doing their 3rd mock draft yesterday (FWIW - had us taking Latham @ 10 with Bowers still on the board). In the 2nd round, Nix was the 6th QB taken and Kirwan made the comment (in his opinion - paraphrasing) "And that's the last QB whose name would be called before round 7". Sounds like, in his opinion, this QB class falls off the cliff after the top 6. Guess he doesn't think highly of Pratt either. QBs went 1-3. Picks 4-6 were the 3 WRs (no trades). Minn traded with Ten to 7 and took McCarthy. Denver traded up to 8 (with Atl) and took Pennix so 5 QBs and 3 WRs be ..read more
