I picked these up from a friend that is an audio engineer. He said they came out of a regal cinemas which seems kinda strange. The cabinets are homemade, but are really well made with 1.5" thick mdf. The woofers have no labels which makes me think cheap, but everything else from this regal cinemas has been nice stuff so who knows. I just thought I would check to see if they caught anyones eye. They are 18" and have different dust caps, but are the same woofers. If they end up being crap oh... Read more ..read more

Hey Guys I have 2 of the RCF L18P200-N drives laying around and i would like to build a traped horn to put them in, if its posible to get one cap to go from 35hz(ish) to 120hz and around a 100-101db spl minimum in the bandpas it would be soooo sweed! They have good power handling (800w AES) and a large xmax (9,8mm) and i can get 2 more pretty cheap Is this posible ? is there a designe that will do this or am i looking at making a new designe? Force cancelling subwoofer with Dayton Audio EPIQUE E180HE-44 & T.Rack DSP 4x4 Mini AMP

I would like to share my experimentation and realization of an active SUB based on the force cancelling principals, also called dual opposing driver configuration, based on an “exotic” setup: The Sub: For the sub I used 2 speakers from Dayton Audio : EPIQUE E180HE-44 200W – 2 x 4 Ohm 84dB 25Hz. They have a dual coil, and an impressive Xmax of 14 mm for such small speakers. In a sealed box, the volume for the 2 speakers is only 16 Liters, so quite small, for a big sound ! The... Is there a rule of thumb too boost a frequency in a sub. Sub is used with an open baffle.

I just bought a second hand 18 Inch Sub. It is a closed box and uses the BMS 18N850. Hypex FA251 is my amp. So I have three presets 100/90/80Hz low pass. But since I hear so much more bass than with my previous 15 Inch...I wanted to look at the crossover settings again. Maybe boost some freq so playing music with lower volume sounds a bit fuller? I know these are all vague requirements. And perhaps there is no rule of thumb. And one should just play around with it and see what works in my... Read more ..read more

Opinions Wanted on Dual 12" Subwoofer Project

Hello, I recently purchased a pair of Speakerlab woofers, the W1208R's. According to Speakerlab at the time, they where the best 12" woofers they built for acoustic suspension systems with great results in subwoofer configurations. So, that takes me to my reason for this thread. I would love some feedback on what you think I should do with them. I was aiming towards a subwoofer ... maybe along the lines of the "closed-box" acoustic suspension. Any ideas on a crossover? Firing direction... Read more ..read more

Dayton spa250

Good day everyone, I have a Dayton SPA 250 here with the known faults. After replacing various electronic capacitors, the amplifier worked again. The browned glue, which is conductive, is also removed. Especially the glue on the plug-in PCB (soft limiter). The auto switch has three positions which are not entirely clear to me. In auto, the speaker turns on and stays on, while it should turn off after 10 to 15 minutes. The other two positions do nothing, only off and the speaker does not turn... Read more ..read more

Apparently, I rocked someone's world in the wrong way. I was made an offer I couldn't refuse for my MK III under-bed sub. A MK IV design is afoot. I'm going for a ported design. Maximum driver size is 6.5" Cabinet volume is 46 litres. I err on the side of efficiency. Where should I start looking? 4 x 5" or 2 x 6.5 ..read more

Really tiny RiPole

I am interested by the Ripole design of subwoofer. Somewhat reminiscent of an AMT but for bass in a arrangement that would seem to benefit form force cancellation between the two drivers. This interests me because the macbook pro has extremely good bass for it;s size and reportedly also uses force cancellation (and a whole lot of DSP i suspect too) So my question.. is it possible to make a really small ripole and have it function as well relative to it's size as the MBP does? the only...
