Hi there. Brand new to the forum. I'm looking at building two sealed si ht18 subs. I used some online subwoofer calculators. With a 4.2 cuft box it gives me a f3 of 38. Is this extremely high? I would like to get around 20hz. I'm not crazy high basshead. Originally was going to build Marty cubes but they were just a little to big , wife approval factor. Thanks ..read more

I have way too many subs and a good number of them are sealed. Like many of you, I agree that a sealed sub sounds better with music, but I don't listen to music. I do watch a ton of movies and I'm tired of my sealed subs not keeping up with my ported ones. I know, I can try yada, yada, yada, and I've tried it. There's no getting around the fact that ported subs give you more bang, so please don't tell me how you'd keep using one of my sealed subs when all I want to know is which sub...

Hello. I am still in the planning stage for my theater.
I'm working within a budget, so I have to stay within certain monetary limits for each component of the theater.
I have been looking for a raw 12" woofer to use as a passive subwoofer for my home theater setup. I used speakerboxlite to model virtual enclosures for over two dozen 'house speaker' woofers sold on various sites. For the money I can afford to spend, none of them really impressed me.
Then I came across the Pioneer...

Hey all. I am building a subwoofer at the moment, and maybe able to get myself an old Mordaunt short plate amp, I was wondering is there any way to find/locate the high pass or low pass filters on the amplifier so that they can output all frequencies, that way I can run an external EQ ..read more

hey all - So I am on a pretty tight budget - I am hoping to build a full sub for around £500 or less.
I would like to have a 15" if possible or maybe a good 12".
my existing 10" just isn't powerful enough to over power my main speakers(which are already quite large and go down to a good 30hz)
Sub will mostly be used for movies & gaming.
Seems hard to find in the UK and most of what I am finding are car audio drivers, would these be suitible?
Thanks!

Good evening, all!
I have a pair of CSS SDX12 3cuft PR boxes I'm looking at integrating a little more into the room. I'm fairly handy with woodworking and thought about making subs that tuck into the front two corners and fit underneath some bass traps of roughly the same dimensions. This would have the driver and two PRs on the same face in a triangular box (driver centered). With the stupid high prices of MDF right now, I would like to ensure I'm wasting my time on a design that's doomed...

Hello,
There's a lot of very intelligent brains on here, and I wish to tap into your knowledge to guide a build.
Intent is to make something elegant and exotic in the smallest enclosure possible tuned as low as possible (I have a Velodyne Minivee 8 as well) using Baltic Birch or MDF and a nice finish maybe piano gloss or veneer?

I'm new to home audio / theater but a "veteran" to car audio. I've done 12 10's on a Malibu boat's wakeboard tower. I've done a Lexus GS400 with a full fiberglass dash and center console to house 8 10's all inside the cab (4 captain seats and motorized amps in the trunk). I've also done a "walled" Sprinter van with 15 12's braced with 2x4's.So on and so on. Car audio has always been a hobby of mine. I only work during the summer months so I need something to keep myself busy during the...
