April 8, 2024 During the months following our move to Dallas in 2022, I went through an internal battle. The prior 10 years of running NMS had been the most fulfilling of my life (minus the COVID years ha!) and after being unable to teach and interact with our community, I found myself no longer able to derive that same joy and fulfillment.  The COVID years were TOUGH for me and NMS. I contemplated shutting down numerous times but the support from you, our community, my family and friends is what kept me going, even when we weren’t profitable.  Fast forward to December of 2022 after ..read more

Embracing self love and honoring your needs as a new mom this Valentine’s season
The New Mom School Blog

As we approach Valentine’s Day I often think back to my first as a new mom, and how much disappointment I felt on “Love Day” that year. On a day that I thought was supposed to be brimming with affection, adornment and happiness, I cried my way through dinner. Jack was 5 weeks old at the time, and it was the first time my husband and I were going out since he was born. My parents came over to watch him so we could spend a few hours together, alone. But I was beyond exhausted, and once we left for the restaurant, the tears wouldn’t stop. But why was I so upset? I was going out like I thought I w ..read more

Do you remember the day you found out you were pregnant? It seems that from that day forward, time is forever separated into two categories: before and after that day. A baby and a mother are being made, and before you can even fully believe it for yourself, you’re off to an OB-GYN or midwife, counting down weeks while counting up dress sizes. Maybe you’ve read up on what to expect, but even so, you’re frequently hit with a “WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME THIS?!”  We get it. Life is full of surprises, but making a life? It’s full of shocking discoveries, thrilling changes, and some, well…some ..read more

‘Tis the season to be selfish
The New Mom School Blog

From the moment you find out you’re expecting, it seems like those living outside your womb start expecting, too. That is…expecting more out of you. The pressure builds to attend every party, to uphold all of the traditions, make a thousand lists, check them twice – you get it. It also doesn’t help that you also impose some of your own mom guilt to make the holiday ..read more
