I got a pair of emerald crabs today. I was drip acclimating them and after a while, it appeared they were having some fun.
The acclimation was done but I didn't want to be c#ck blocking so I was waiting for them to finish.
In the end, they got frightened by me and broke apart. I didn't mean to stop them but I guess pointing a camera at them while they were at it wasn't very nice of me.
Now they are in the tank they should continue where they left off.
Here is the video of them in action ..read more

Woke up this morning to find that my fire shrimp had killed and eaten an entire 8 head acan colony!!! At first I thought it was because he was just hungry, but I feed pellets every day and LRS nano frenzy 2-3 times a week and he gets a ton of food each feeding so I don't think that's why. I have had him for about 4 months now and he hasn't bothered anything. I am worried he will start eating other, more expensive corals in my tank as it is made up of around 80% LPS and softies, luckily the...

Hi, I've got some questions for the copepod culture experts out there.
1.
I currently culture Isochrysis galbana and Tiger copepods (Tigriopus californicus).
I'm only feeding my tiger pods live Iso at the moment but I feel I should supplement their diet with something more. The options I'm thinking of are;
- Reef Nutrition's Phyto feast (not the live ones, we don't get them here. This would be the easiest with the least amount of work. If this is just as good as adding another live phyto...

Hi all. Came home yesterday with a couple of new additions to the tank and saw my little tuxedo urchin releasing milky white strems into the water. I kind of have an idea about what's going on but my question is : Is there a chance for little urchins or is he just wasting his time? TIA

I set this tank up one year ago, seeding dry rock with some KP Aquatics wet live rock. I evidently didn't get all hitchhikers when I put the rock in the tank. I have heard and seen either a pistol or mantis shrimp for the past year. The clicks, about a second between are not to hard to live with. A couple weeks ago I lost my first fish, a fire fish. It was great one day, next it is half a fish laying on the bottom. I made a feeble attempt to get it out dipping it's usual hang out rock in...

There's a mini maxi anemone that someone is giving away in for super cheap, but I don't know whether it would be safe with the fish that I have or are planning.
The fish that I would be concerned about are clown gobies and dragonets, slower moving perching type fish.
What is the likelihood of the fish getting trapped and eaten ..read more
