I've messed with using with and without. Can't tell the difference in terms of looking through the scopes. I understand what they're for (I was a professional photographer for years), but on a riflescope they're just there to protect my front lens 99% of the time. The weight is negligible. So I made the mistake of being an idiot and messing up my vudu top turret cap a bit. Talked to Eotech and apparently these aren't offered as warranty parts? Or for separate purchase? I was told I have to wait some indeterminate amount of time on a list as they cannibalize the caps from warrantied scopes and send them out in order requested.
