Vortex Diamondback Binos, Good Choice?

I'm in the market for my first real pair of binoculars. From what I understand, I would be hard-pressed to find a better product than Vortex's 8x42 Diamondback without spending over $500. I'll be using them to scan for targets in both urban and wilderness environments at distances up to a mile away. I've decided that 8x is probably as much magnification as I can use without a mount of some kind. As stated above, I don't have any practical experience with binoculars and would like opinions... I bought a S&B PM-II with locking turrets from a guy and one of the hex key set screws has some looseness in how the hex key wrench fits. I'm concerned that I'll strip it out some time. Have you ever replaced the set screw ..read more

If you already have a spotting scope, is there any point in also having a pair of binoculars or a monocular? Except for hunting, how would they be useful? What power is worth spending money on? Is there such a thing as an inexpensive binocular/monocular thats worth having ..read more

I was interested in buying a spotting scope for doing some Tactical shooting and long range animal spotting while hunting. Can anyone reccomend a decent scope that fits into the 400 or so dollar bracket? I like quality optics and would love to have a 2000 dollar scope but my allowance won't allow it. At least thats what my wife says. Can a good scope be bought for that money or should I save and not waste my time? Thanks Clayton ..read more

So we are currently putting together a couple builds for the mile (1760) and 2000 yard mark. We also want to see just how far we can push the COBB 50. I have been researching quite a bit for a SFP scope with more than 100 MOA of adjustment haven't found anything. Due to the nature of FFP scopes im gonna go with SFP on these setups. Yes I could go with a USO SN9 and get 230 MOA of elevation (crazy awesome) but its still FFP. Having used my SN3 on 22x at a 16x16 inch target at 1300 yards...
