Hi Vaquero folks,
I noticed some scratches on one side face of my hammer, not sure if I picked up some grit while shooting or if this is common or some fit problem. Should there be any noticable space between the side faces of the hammer and the frame? I can see the right face is just a hair more gap than the left side. It seems to have resolved itself as I feel no binding if I decock by hand.
This is the old Vaquero, purchased new in 1998, 45 Colt with that fake case hardened finish. Less...

I recently purchased a new Mark IV Hunter and I am using Federal 36gr bullets. Every 20 rounds or so the spent casing will hang up in the receiver area as it is being ejected, a new round usually loads into the chamber and then the slide does not close. In order to relieve this problem I have to drop the magazine and clear the receiver. Is this an ammo problem or is there something mechanical I should tend to ..read more

My Ruger Max-9 fails to load a new round after firing. The slide is locked back even though there are rounds in the mag. It does this several times per mag. I have tried 4 new mags. So the magazines are not the problem.
I called Ruger. They said send it in. But is there an easy fix for this slide locking back and not going forward to strip a round from the magazine?
It ejects just fine. Just doesn't reload ..read more

Bought an new Ruger LCP Max yesterday and not too happy with it. Loaded it up and pulled the slide back and it failed to slide forward completely. Bumped it with my hand and fired it but it just keeps doing the same thing. Is it defective? What should I do? Contact Ruger or bring it back to the store ..read more

Out of the “Big Three” U.S. handgun manufacturers, Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. was the proverbial middle child when it came to cashing in on the “Wonder Nine” craze of the 1980s, doing so via the Ruger P85.
Smith & Wesson got there first with its first-generation S&W Model 59 in 1971 – therefore actually predating the Wonder Nine craze of the following decade but possibly paving the ground for the category – followed by...
