When I first detail stripped my MKII I was having trouble holding onto parts going back together. Went to hobby lobby and got reverse tweezers and put plasti-dip on the jaws to prevent slipping of parts especially the sear. That made reassembly a breeze. Hope this helps ..read more

love my MK II SS target pistol. Trigger is OK but I am spoiled with great triggers on most of my equipment. I see several options. I am not against paying $141.95 for a complete VQ accurizing kit but is it justified? I mostly target shoot with it. Rarely have I competed with it. Of all the MK series pistols I've owned and sold off over the years, the MK II Government model was the only one that I really missed. Not that I shot that one allot more than the others, I just liked it's clean, no nonsense lines, heft and sense of forward balance. That was near 15 years ago and I have not had a chance to replace it since. Then just last week I ran into this one in a local shop. I just could not get used to the really light trigger on my Government Target I bought recently. I was double firing quite a bit during range visits. I sent it off to Ruger for the drill and tap work and mentioned the light trigger pull when they called for payment. I just got it back and trigger seems normal (like my other Mark II's) but work order made no mention of trigger work but included "replaced sear" under additional comments.
