BEV and PHEV suggestions to replace current EV

As summer approaches, we’re considering replacing our ID4. While it has served us well, we won’t be purchasing another one due to the well-discussed limitations of this first generation EV from VW. We’ve owned other VWs in the past with better overall build quality. The 2024 model has seen significant software improvements, but we’re still inclined to wait for the next generation. Our current 77kWh model provides ample battery capacity for me, but my wife experiences range anxiety. She avoids work trips where charging is necessary. Consequently, we’re exploring PHEVs, and the new Tiguan Hybrid ..read more

Crunch Time for EU with EVS and EU Green Deal

The EU has serious decisions to make on the EU Green Deal. EV adoption at best is about 15% of the market. The plan calls I think for 22% of the market in EV in 2024 and rapidly rising thereafter. Manufacturers aren't selling enough at current prices with the constraints that EU made batteries apparently cost 15k, and above the 78% mix Manufacturers are fined eur 15k for every additional ICE car produced?? Then of course you have Chinese companies now focusing on selling in Europe given their own market is maturing and getting highly competitive. The easy option would be to roll back on the Gr ..read more

I couldn’t find a recent post for egolf owners ( there isn’t too much of us to be fair ) so I thought I would start one. I’ve had my ee egolf since the start of January and I am wondering how other owners are finding the range and efficiency. I don’t have a heat pump. I have the lights pack and the 17” tyres. I have just hit 2,000 km with an average of 18.7kw/100km from mixed driving. Yesterday I wasn’t in a rush so I done a 100km trip with the eco plus mode on and b mode active with the speed at 95km/hr. The lights were on and so was my heated seat. I got 18.3kw/100km out of it which impres ..read more

Mod Note: I've discussed with site admins, due to the current legal situation recommendations cannot be made for use of electric scooters on public roads in Ireland, but can be made for use on private property. However, we will allow discussion of e-scooters for purchase for use on private property, and other jurisdictions such as France/Germany where they are legal for use. This restriction will be lifted as soon as the legal situation changes, which will hopefully be soon. I was thinking of getting one of those xiaomi m365 folding scooters to cover the last 5 kilometres of the journey as I ..read more

Hi all, Quick question, how bad is it to leave a honda civic hybrid (2009, so with the HCH2 system) left undriven for some months (close to a year)? Is it a garanteed IMA battery failure? Or is it a case of getting them charged again with a long drive? Also, what would be the symptoms to expect if the battery is failing? Thanks all ..read more

So just another way to rip off the motorist. Government taking orders from the big globalists to tell us we will be saving the environment. Biggest polluters of them all My friend foolishly bought one and 18 months later went to trade it in at main dealers and he losing a massive 86k and its was in 6 times during that time with faults....on the trade in they didn't really even want it. These electric cars are to be disposable just like a mobile phone so it's a huge scam to make money for these guys while shafting the motorists. Like who would buy these crap electric cars when out of warranty ..read more
