Outer tie rod driver's side right hand thread

I put a new steering rack in my car that has right hand inner tie rods on both sides.  I bought 2 MOOG ES2109R right side tie rods and they do fit but on the driver's side it's a bit too long and I don't have much adjustment ability.  Also its pointed slightly forward as opposed to the passenger side where it points sightly rearward.       What is everyone using for drivers side outer tie rod with right hand thread ..read more

Hello all.   I am getting ready to install my TT3 rear sway bar, and there aren't any instructions....no sweat, it's pretty straight forward except where exactly in the rear arms am I supposed to drill holes for the end links to attach?   Also the pieces where the swar bar mounts there are 2 locations, one about an inch higher than the other.  I guess it is for lowered cars?   Any help is appreciated, thanks.   ..read more

Eibach Springs - Front sits high... *pics*

I have found a few threads on this issue, but no real resolution.  The front sits noticeably higher (over 1") after the installation... it appears the front didn't even drop a millimeter from stock.   Springs:  Eibach Lowering Kit Shocks:  KYB   Checks: 6305.001 springs are on the front. 6305.202 springs are on the rear. The label and part number are right-side up so you can read them. The springs are seated properly. The control arm bolts/nuts were tightened with the load of the car (not on jack stands).   Does anyone have a clue as to why the front did not low ..read more

How to unscrew stuck outer tie rod??
Hybridz Forum » Brakes, Wheels, Suspension

I've been fighting this outer tie rod trying to get it off for like 3 hours. Everything else has came out pretty easy so far, but this has been impossible. This is the drivers side, and yes I know that it is left hand thread. I've been trying to turn it clockwise to remove it, but I've tried both directions and it wont budge at all. I've been using a crescent wrench and 22mm, one on the nut and one on the tie rod. Sprayed the shit out of it with PB Blaster.  Anyone have any tips on unscrewing it? Please tell me there is a simple way to get this off and I'm just an idiot ..read more

Hello HybridZ! My 240z recently seized up its drums at the track and I thought it is time to convert to a disc brake. I went with the kit from Zcardepot and ended up adding some parts of my own as well to make it work. Here is my review and headaches and pointers from installing this kit. I will go though the process and when the issues occur will be written in chronological order. GOOD POINTS WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED IN BLUE. MEH I AM NOT MAD NOR PLEASED IN GREEN. BAD POINTS WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED IN RED.   1. Removing the Stock Drums There are tons of write ups on this. I chose to cut the bac ..read more

Rear disk kit from Zcar Depot Anyone using it.

So I bought a Rear disk kit from Zcar depot. No instructions of course because that would make it all too easy. They have a video that is pretty close to worthless .  Brake install If you want a laugh while you are in quarantine watch it and see if you can figure out the E-brake.    I also purchased one of their replacement E-brake cables.   So here is my question for anyone who has done this. How did you get the E-brake cables to work. The E-brake brackets leave a lot to be desired. The bracket material is too thick to use the original clip system to retain the c ..read more

240Z+ poly transmission mount development

Alright, it's been a while since I've upset the status quo around here, so let me begin by saying, I hope to have these ready to offer by mid-march if there's enough interest. Due to the fact that they are using components from an existing kit (300ZX trans mounts) there is minimal work required, but questions remain.   Firstly, the bushings are offset, putting the majority of compressive material above the bushing sleeves on the 300ZX kit, and like the 300ZX kit, we would be ditching the upper C-shaped isolator that attaches to the OEM bracket which is a lot softer. However, because of dr ..read more

Need help withe Fikse wheel bought from Johnc

But these wheels from JohnC almost 20 years ago now, I just had them in to a wheel place to have them polished clean and redone, the problem is they lost several of the nuts and bolts that go into this, we're not having a problem where we look everywhere, and even Fikse doesn't seem to know what the nut size was that they used on these almost 20 years ago.   Is there anyone out there that has a set of the Fikse wheels, with the nuts on the outer face? Am I the only person that ever bought these? JohnC had said that this was the one that he put on most of the Z cars that he built so I'm ho ..read more

Lower Control Arm Bushing Housing Surface Damage?
Hybridz Forum » Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
by

I've gone through several websites and forums for removing the LCA inner and outer bushings. With this, they all recommend caution when using the hacksaw to make the two cuts through the outer bushing (so you don't damage the actual housing surface). They don't provide reasoning as to why, however.   Is a little surface damage par for the course? What're your experiences ..read more
