Make this 30 Second Update in your Account Engagement Account Right Now

There's a fairly recent update to Account Engagement that everyone should enable in their accounts right away, it only takes a few moments but it provides peace of mind and security that matters now more than ever. The setting restricts iframing of your Account Engagement assets to only the domains you specify. This help article explains it in depth but it's really quite easy. Just head over to your Account Engagement settings, and on your main account page, hit edit, and then scroll down to this section. Here you can add only the domains that you want to be able to host your iframed forms ..read more

How to get around the Conditional Completion Action Limitations in Account Engagement
Unfetteredmarketing Blog
by Bill Fetter

If you've been working with Conditional Completion actions in Account Engagement for a while (here's my overview if you'd like my take on it) you may have run into one of it's downsides: there's a hard limit on the number of things you can put in completion actions now. That hard limit is what I call the 1/6/16 rule. You can have rules that apply to all prospects without condition (1), you can have up to 6 conditional groups (with a single conditional rule per group), and you can have a a total of 16 individual actions spread across the 1 and 6. In most circumstances, that's probably fine. Un ..read more

For the 4th consecutive year, presented at Mardreamin', a virtual conference for all things Salesforce Marketing, including Account Engagement (f/k/a Pardot), Marketing Cloud and more. This year's presentation is a demonstration of how you can run a small scale in-person event with a ticketing system completely native inside of Account Engagement. This is ideal for non-paid in-person events like open houses, hospitality sessions, lunch and learns, and the like. We'll look at all the automation components and methods necessary for you to easily reproduce this method yourself. Click Here to Dow ..read more

How to build Round-Robin Lead Assignment in Account Engagement
Unfetteredmarketing Blog
by Bill Fetter

Did you know that in the early days of Pardot (Account Engagement) that you actually had a choice of more than one CRM it would connect to? Wild, right? It was also possible to just use it on it's own as a sort of CRM unto itself. Those days are long gone, of course, but there are still vestigial features of this past lurking in the system. Often overlooked, but still useful. This post is about one of them: Groups. Groups are essentially just a list of Account Engagement users that performs a very special trick. What I'm going to show you is how to use the group feature to create Round-Robin ..read more

Why won't my Email Templates show up in Email Content in the Drag and Drop builder?
Unfetteredmarketing Blog

There has been a lot written and discussed about the new Account Engagement (f/k/a Pardot) Lightning Drag and Drop email builder and whether it's a worthy successor to the classic builder in terms of functionality. One thing I've noticed in the past 18 months is there are two recurring common "gotcha" problems with developing and using email templates, and it's so commonplace that it's worth an article. The Problem Defined: You build an email template and then when you go to Email Content to use it, does not show up as an option. Why? If you didn't build the template, it's possibly a folder pe ..read more

The difference between List Email and List Email
Unfetteredmarketing Blog
by Bill Fetter

Salesforce has been on a renaming tear lately. Lots of products, especially in the marketing space, have been renamed. This hasn't always resulted in more clarity. Pardot is now Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, while Marketing Cloud Messaging/Journeys is now Marketing Cloud Engagement. Some of the larger renamings have gotten a lot of attention. One subtle one that you may have missed was the standard Salesforce Sales Cloud feature that used to be called "Mass Email" is now called "List Emails". Account Engagement (Pardot) also has a feature called List Email. What's more, the new drag and ..read more

How to Update the Image on a LinkedIn Post after it's been Posted
Unfetteredmarketing Blog

Occasionally, groups don't communicate well internally. Sometimes a link is posted on social to a website page before the page is "totally" ready. And maybe you end up with an image in that social post that has already been posted that was just meant to be a placeholder and not the real image. Or perhaps it's the "default" social image. Are you hosed since the post was already made? Do you have to pull it down and start over? You may have discovered that trying to post the link again even after you've updated the page does not necessarily show an updated image. This is because some social plat ..read more

How to Create a Closed Loop Automation with Account Engagement (Pardot) and Calendly
Unfetteredmarketing Blog
by Bill Fetter

I've written previously on how to pass variables to Calendly using Handlebar Merge Language (HML) so that your prospects can have their contact details pre-populated on the booking form. Now, how about closing the loop by telling Account Engagement (f/k/a Pardot) when someone actually books a meeting? With a paid Calendly plan, this is actually quite easy using Calendly's redirect on confirmation feature. We create a Form Handler in Kiosk mode (because we don't want to cookie Calendly's servers), and use just that URL in the redirect. You will need to set specific redirect locations for both ..read more

How to Capture UTM Parameters in Account Engagement (Pardot)
Unfetteredmarketing Blog
by Bill Fetter

Are you looking for a way to capture UTM parameters across multiple site visits and different pages? Here's a (relatively) easy way to do it with minimal programming experience necessary. I spoke at Dreamforce 2022 and Mardreamin' 2022, demonstrating an easy method to capture inbound UTM variables from third party sites and advertising links and capture them on your Pardot/MCAE forms: Across Time... What if someone visits your site, leaves, and then comes back as a direct visitor without the UTMs? No problem, this method stores the UTM's for up to 30 days and will place them in your form's hi ..read more
