NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Game Show World lost an icon over the weekend with the death of Bob Barker at 99 years old. Barker was best known for his 35-year-role on ‘The Price is Right’. CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after a man has died after being found unresponsive in the water. The Carolina Beach Police Department, Carolina Beach Fire Department and New Hanover County EMS responded to the beach near Seagull Lane around noon on Monday in reference to an unresponsive person in the water. First responders pulled the man from the water and performed live-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead on the scene. WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a hit and run involving a pedestrian. It happened Sunday night a little after 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Dawson Street. When police arrived, they found a man severely injured. EMS transported the victim, identified as Charles Body Thomas, Jr, 53, to Novant NHRMC with life-threatening injuries. CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A rental house in Carolina Beach caught fire over the weekend.  Carolina Beach Fire Department responded to the flames within minutes.  There were no injuries, and no one was in the house at the time.  An investigation continues to determine the cause of the fire on Ocean Boulevard. CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill sent out an alert Monday warning of an “armed, dangerous person on or near campus” and urging people to go inside and avoid windows. WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Average gasoline prices in North Carolina have fallen 5.3 cents per gallon in the last week. Prices now average around $3.50 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. Prices in North Carolina are 1.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 2.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.
