City Councilman Robert Kellogg has accepted a position with Orange County, North Carolina, working with a Street Outreach Harm Reduction Team. The Team works with those experiencing homelessness.

Model and actor Brooklyn Decker will be the featured speaker when Gaston County Rotary clubs, Rotary International and the Belmont-based Promise for Haiti organization host a gala evening at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardenraising funds to complete and equip a children’s wing at a hospital in Haiti.
Impoverished children in one of the poorest regions of Haiti will be the beneficiaries of the event, which will kick off a campaign to raise $206,000 for the hospital project.

Gaston Dance Theatre, led by former student Camilla Bullard, is presenting a new take on the classic Cinderella. The new production will feature piano music, contemporary and classical dance, and more. Performances will be at 7 PM April 19 and 1 PM and 7 PM on April 20 at Gaston Christian School. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for children under 5.

Gaston College’s softball team completed its 14th doubleheader sweep of the season with a workmanlike effort in 11-3 and 8-3 victories over Brunswick Community College on Friday afternoon at Gastonia’s CaroMont Health Park.
The victories extended the Rhinos’ winning streak to seven games and improved their record 33-5 overall.
