On a sunny Saturday morning in November 2011, a letter was delivered that turned my world upside down. Urinary tract squamous cell carcinoma (UTSCC) is a rare form of cancer, comprising approximately 5% of bladder and urinary tract cancers. As a result, research into the disease has been limited and patients are often excluded from participating in bladder cancer clinical trials.
