L’Ef ..read more

The Importance of Base-Building for Trail Runners

How many of us sign up for a race at the beginning of the season, tell ourselves we’ll start training later….and then end up rushing our training when we realize they’re running out of time? Or jumping into the race with little to no prep because we think the distance “isn’t a big deal,” but then end up injured afterwards or later on in the season? Let’s be honest–that’s happened to us here at Vert.run, and it’s probably happened to you or one of your friends.  (Let me introduce myself quickly–my name is Constant, and I’m a Vert.run Coach. I live in Annecy, France–right where the Alps s ..read more

As a runner, the first thing I searched online after knowing I am pregnant was stories of women who continued running during their pregnancy or did even more. I was not only googling for runners who worked out, but also those who did  races. But there is not too much related content online. Yet, I still found hugely encouraging stories which gave me extra courage to continue running on a daily basis and joining virtual races until today, even though I am 6 months pregnant.  The fact that this is my second time experiencing running during pregnancy also helps. I am driven by my curi ..read more

Since March 2020, most of the races got canceled and we all had to find new ways to challenge ourselves. While summer passed by with various kinds of virtual challenges, autumn started with a new kind of virtual race where the local running community has found its strength. These races are not only tailor-made in ‘COVID times’, but also suitable for runners during pregnancy.   Differs from international virtual races where participates only need the complete the distance and elevation regardless where they live, this new way of racing usually gives you a one-month window to compl ..read more

As anticipated by Jenna, who has translated my previous writing in Chinese, we will continue to write on issues related to female runners who are mothers, or pregnant but still keep moving along the trails… This time I have to start with a confession. I am currently in the fifth month of my second pregnancy with a due date at the end of April. Indeed, the current circumstances made clear the direction of our upcoming writings: we will write on my running journey during these upcoming months. Besides this, we will also write about some amazing women who with their running achievements chall ..read more
