A major renovation, which has already begun, will widen the highway to as many as 20 or more lanes in some places and get rid of the upper deck sections of the road near UT campus. While highways feel unavoidable now, author Megan Kimble says that wasn’t always the case. Her new book, City Limits: Infrastructure, Inequality, and the Future of America’s Highways, illuminates the surprising and often sordid histories of interstate highways, including racist origins an ..read more

On Friday, the city leader announced April 5 (4/5) as Chili’s at 45th and Lamar Day, noting his favorite dish and furthering the mythology of the chain’s storied local franchise.
