The most pragmatic technological option to achieve our goal.
First, we download the entire lex4you website using a crawler and divide the information into units that the large language model (LLM) can easily digest. These segments are vectorised using embeddings and stored in a vector database. These embeddings enable us to quickly find the documents applicable to a question that has been asked, and these are then sent to the LLM to obtain an answer, together with the original question. Finally, we supply the answer with the references. This approach is called retrieval-augmented generation (R ..read more

Getting answers to questions of a legal nature is not easy. You either have to contact a lawyer or use online legal support services, which offer all kinds of answers to different everyday legal topics in the form of articles, FAQs, or even telephone hotlines. One of those services is lex4you, created by Touring Club Suisse. It covers a wide range of subjects, such as work, consumption, traffic, health or even family.

I’m a Liiper used to putting out fires
My name is Tristan. I’m 36 years old, have two children, and have been a volunteer firefighter with Oron-Jorat Emergency Services for over 12 years. I work at night, on weekends, and even during the day, since I’ve been working from home. Our flexibility at Liip allows me to do that without affecting my work.
I’m also registered with the FirstResponder network, which alerts first aiders close to people suffering cardiopulmonary arrest. This means that CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) can be given before the ambulance arrives, which can take ten or eve ..read more

It’s the year 2007 and the first iPhone has just been released. Briefly after, a Swiss digital agency called Liip launches an application for the powerful device that soon becomes the most downloaded app at that time in Switzerland. The popular application borrows timetable data from the SBB CFF’s website and combines it with the user's location. What is now at the center of every public transport app, sounded back then like the launch of a money-making machine. But it became even bigger. Following the Liip Principles open-over-closed and we-over-me, Liip made this data-theft-machine accessibl ..read more

Against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and invigorating alpine air, attendees immersed themselves in a whirlwind of workshops, discussions, and outdoor activities showcasing the vibrant spirit of open-source technology and the beauty of the Swiss mountains.
We took this opportunity to ask Josef Kruckenberg, Product Owner at Liip and co-orgniser of the Drupal Mountain Camp, a few questions.

The Symfony user group Zurich has been quite active a decade ago. But after a last meetup in 2015, we had no further activity. Mind you, 2015, so we can't even blame covid for it.
Finally, at the start of 2024 I and my team colleagues wanted to restart the user group. We are very happy that about 20 people showed up for this first meetup in 9 years. Emanuele Panzeri presented "Firefighting a Symfony & Elasticsearch app with Blackfire" and I did a demo of Symfony Messenger. The slides are available in our Github repository.

Since 2022, we've been organising Sustainability Lunches. As the name suggests, these gatherings provide an opportunity to discuss sustainability having lunch together. We initially began with sessions involving a film or TED Talk as a starter for discussions.
To delve deeper and draw inspiration, we've recently invited external speakers. We want to learn from organisations with a strong purpose. We've had the pleasure of hosting Gebana to discuss local and sustainable agriculture, Beelong and their Eco-Score for measuring the sustainability of food products, and Your2040, an association aimin ..read more

Since our last metrics and dimensions cheatsheet was shared in early 2019, Google Analytics 4 has been released and Universal Analytics has been discontinued.
I shared my impressions in this blogpost and since then, there have been some small updates. The tool is certainly less buggy, the admin panel looks better and recently some consent checks have found their way in. GA4 remains a powerful and advanced leader among analytics platforms and we use it for many of our clients.
Below is an updated cheatsheet with GA4 metrics and dimensions (sourced from Google that you can print out and use when ..read more
