We now check in on contract J106 for the construction of Boon Lay station and associated viaducts. Apart from contracts J102 and J108, this contract was another to begin viaduct construction work early. Instead of using a launching gantry to lift segmental box girders into position, this contract instead uses the lifting frame method. Let's check in on the progress made in Q1 of 2023.

8 April 2023 - A view of the heart of Bahar Junction station at the junction of Jurong West
Avenues 2 & 4 and Streets 64 & 75.
Today we cover the progress made at Bahar Junction station site over Q1 & the early part of Q2 of 2023. There are some noticeable differences since our last visit here at the end of 2022 with more station piers coming up along Jurong West Avenue 2. With the unique design of the station serving trackways heading in three different bounds, the site also stretches to Jurong West Streets 64 and 75, the former having less visible progress than th ..read more

19 March 2023 - Viaduct piers under construction near contract J105's
Jurong West station site.
It has been a while since we've updated on the progress at Jurong West station under contract J105, the last update being towards the end of 2022. Similarly to Hong Kah station's update, we're doing one that sort of straddles between Q1 and Q2 of 2023. If we get around to getting more photos of the site that show visible differences, we'll be sure to update. Nonetheless, here's a recap of how things have progressed in Q1 and the first month of Q2. For this update, we'll be doing thin ..read more

As some of these pictures are from February and others from April, this update spans between quarter 1 and quarter 2 of the year. trackway towards Pandan Reservoir.

With thanks to Alfred Yeo Chi Jin, a resident of Bukit Batok West for contributing these photos with regularity, we have been able to observe the process of transferring a launch gantry from one trackway to another. The transfer was completed over a course of several days by sliding the supports across a beam that helped to keep the gantry in place.

Just prior to this, several key activities need to take place. We explore these activities today that allow the line to function seamlessly with the wider network.
Updating of static in-train route & system mapsThe line forms part of a system and updating of the in-train route maps to reflect new connections is crucial. These allow passengers to know which existing stations have become transfer points to the new ..read more

23 March 2023 - An overview of the Choa Chu Kang JRL site.
Choa Chu Kang is going to be the station that connects it all - the Jurong Region Line (JRL), North-South Line (NSL) & Bukit Panjang LRT. Works have been on-going for a while now, when the site looked extremely different. Now a multi-storey carpark with commercial units on the ground floor has gone and the bus interchange has shifted to allow for the JRL construction. To say that the place looks different would be an understatement.
Nonetheless, we're showcasing a few images from back in February & January 2023 ..read more
