With Alexandra Marshall on Spectator TV's The Week in 60 Minutes 24 April 2024
Is the Australian PM using #AnzacDay as a cynical personal PR mission?
"This is a Prime Minister who is preaching 'freedom' and 'democracy' in PNG while his e-Safety Commissioner has turned Australia into ground zero for the fall of Western democracy."

Gunning Dawn Service, 25th Aoril 2024: (L-R) Michael de Percy, Dennis Crowe, Doug Robertson
This year I was asked to deliver the address for the ANZAC Day Memorial Service in my home town of Gunning, NSW. It caused me to reflect on the military from the time of my grandfathers to my own time and beyond. I was inspired to amend Johnson after I watched our catafalque party rehearse, commanded by a female cavalry corporal.
There were no women in the Arms Corps in my day. And the concept of transgender didn't even exist, but transgender soldiers serve in our military. If we measure ..read more

Release of Israeli hostages during Iron Swords war [IDF: Public Domain]
The Foreign Minister keeps harping on about community expectations. The Australian community expects our government to stand against terrorists, not to affirm and recognise their aims. Ms Wong seems to have misplaced her priorities between domestic politics and foreign policy aims with our allies. This is a dangerous position for a Foreign Minister to be in.
Just as in 1955, it is again time the Labor Party looked inwards. I recommend they look to their national security heroes instead of the modern commun ..read more

Australian soldier acting as a wharf labourer during one of the frequent wharfies strikes, 9 April 1943. [CC0]
I never expected to see a Labor Prime Minister take credit for a union buster’s grand vision for a logistics hub at Moorebank, west of Sydney.
But that is exactly what happened last week.
Mr Albanese’s press release was headlined, Opening of the Moorebank Interstate Terminal fulfils long term vision.
Of course, he does not mention whose vision was being fulfilled.
My latest in The Spectator Australia, Albo unashamedly takes credit for union buster’s grand vision.

Are electric vehicles ? actually 'green'? I have my doubts...
"Destroying the environment to save the environment is 'kind of okay' [in the world of #NetZero]. Killing koalas is okay if it's for wind turbines but not for a coal mine."@SpectatorOz columnist Michael de Percy… pic.twitter.com/swbS4OTONa

Home loan interest is tax deductible in Sweden and The Netherlands, so why not in Australia?
Imagine if you could claim the interest you pay on your mortgage as a tax deduction. While you can’t in Australia, you can in Sweden. Why not here?
My latest in The Spectator Australia, How about tax deductions for your home loan interest?

Antifragile: Broken bones can sometimes heal stronger than before the break
The Treasurer is like a boss who enthusiastically makes everyone’s life a misery with every new fad.
We have superannuation funds where trillions of dollars of our retirement funds are tied up and likely to be used for renewable energy projects or social housing if Labor gets another crack at governing.
We have a housing market that is being swamped by government trying to build social housing and failing to do so while messing up the market.
We have poles and wires ripping up prime agricultural land ..read more
