Is this a good time to pump the funk out of the bog or should I wait?

This isn't about water chemistry per se, but this is the closest category I could choose. If I am picking the wrong time for this chore, it could mess up the water chemistry, so here we go! I have a decent sized bog, fed by an intake bay. As the temps warm up here, I am noticing a ton of sediment coming to the bog surface and lots of string algae forming. I know that is sometimes normal for Spring. I don't have any big concerns. I'm mostly curious and interested to see what kind of crud... Read more ..read more

After a couple of years of thinking we hope to start work on landscaping our garden, we only been here for 20+ years, as part of the landscaping I will be putting a bigger better pond. The current pond is a small raised bed pond, this one will around 10 bigger It's a bit of hybrid pond using a bottom drain and a bog filter. Over the next few days I want to finalise the design and may have quite few questions. It's approximate dimensions are 5300 x 3700 and 1250 mm... Read more ..read more

Adding a second small pond next to my waterfall pond and stream this stream

This second pond will be a reflection pond with very little water movement. It will be approximately 5x8x2 and will not share any equipment or water. There will not be any plants or fish. The bottom will be flat flagstone. It will simply recirculate the water which will spill over the front edge into the water storage blocks. I didn’t build it for swimming or soaking, but was thinking on an occasional hot day it might be nice to sit in it. What are your tips or thoughts ..read more

Hi, I am renovating a large pond and have a question about water supply. The volume of water will be 400,000 litres and I would like to know the best way to fill it. If I use the mains I will get charged for sewerage, but that will probably be cheaper than getting it delivered. Has anyone got advice ..read more

I Have Yet Another Question As I Build My Waterfall/Stream

I have a single drop of about 3 feet from my spillway to a large pool at the bottom of the drop. From here the water will flow down the stream into my pond. I am at a loss as to how I can "rock in' the liner behind the 3 foot drop. If I had constructed say three drops it would be simple to place some larger stones but with a single 3 foot drop do I have any options besides somehow placing flat slate against the liner? I had considered recessing the waterfall "wall' to allow for larger... Read more ..read more

Hello I have a Hozelock Bioforce Revolution 14000 filter system at the back of my Pond. The water from the pump goes powerfully into the filter but is very weak when it comes out to the Waterfall. Hence the Waterfall is just dripping. Any thoughts or advice ? Many Thanks Cliff ..read more
