I thought that I would post a link to this nicely written piece on a Zenith Sporto cal 126-6 that a bought from an OF member last year, as you guys may be interested!
I felt the mainspring snap as I wound it for the first time...damn, but all good as Rich has it sorted and it features on his blog:

Hi everyone,
About 14 years ago I was handed down a vintage Zenith watch from my Grandfather after he passed. The crystal had a crack in it and, being a very sentimental piece, I never wanted to bring it in anywhere for repair. Over the years, I've brought a few pieces for repair to a local and reputable jeweller and had no issues, and the crack on the crystal had begun to spread (and a few more cracks from the same point also formed). I brought it in to the jeweller and, unfortunately,...

So, my friend brought me some watches to photograph and Pilot really stood out from the rest.
Reference 01-0011-382
What is interesting - the bracelet is not signed. It looks authentic, at least it fits nicely to this watch, but the surface is a bit rough, not very smooth. Then again, I have no previous experience with mint bracelets from this era.
The watch has little scratches on the crystal, but it has not been worn. Still had blue film on the sides, not intact though, before I took it...

My Zenith caliber 71, circa 1958, in 18 K rose gold (37mm) was serviced this past fall by Kelly Hunter of Art of the Watch. Kelly was great to work with. The caliber 71 is keeping excellent time, and the watch looks amazing to me. The pictures below don’t really capture the watch’s true beauty.
I had the gold plated buckle re-plated by RePLATEit; I’m very happy with their work too. Finally, I added a custom made Cordovan strap from Veblenist, which is buttery soft, and just an outstanding...

I have been collecting watches for longer than I care to remember however my most "valuable" watch was my first (well second but that's another story). When I was a teen, I would borrow my Dad's watch overnight just to put it under my pillow to listen to it's melody, ocassionally Dad would let me wear it for a day or two and I would constantly marvel at how thin a machine it was given its function.
The poor old watch would get knocked about for years on Dad's wrist as he worked as a...

i have read everything i can find on the old zeniths. . . i have a very good a384 and 385. it seems to me that prices are starting to move, especially for the legendary early models. i love the watches separate from the prices, but they seem ludicrously undervalued to me vs. rolex and omega, as an example
i was curious what people thought the "right" prices were for the "big 5" zeniths. . very clean collectors level type examples

Since long ago my wish has been to add a “El Primero” to my (humble) collection. Finally, here I am.
It is in the first version from 1969, i.e. 3019PHC (at that time not marked “El Primero” yet).
The watch which hosts this “legend” is a Movado Datron HS360, steel, with blue dial (ref. 434-705-502).
It is also available with black and with white dial; the reference number does not change; it was also available gold plated (ref. 434-615-502), in 14 kt. gold (ref. 434-225-502) and 18 kt....
