Now however, pushing 80 I've decided to try and go digital for a coming short trip to Uzbekistan. Buying new gears is out of the question for various reasons, and thus I basically have to decide as to whether bring along an old Lumix DMC FZ28 or just rely on my Samsung A51 smartphone. I'm a little late on this but anyone have any good tips they would share for photographing the eclipse?  This is not something I've had a chance to practice trial and error.  I'm aware of the potential damage by UV to human eyes but not seen or heard anything about electronics.  (On a side note, Eclipse glasses appear to be IR filters around 750nm from my best guess.)   ..read more

Last year I had the good fortune to visit Africa for the first time and Indonesia. While there I made the tour of great apes: gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda and watching orangutans in the jungles of Borneo. In addition watching colobus monkeys fly across the treetops. Hi Everyone, I'm traveling abroad soon for the first time. While traveling in the US I normally drive so I travel fairly heavy, but I know I need to travel lighter this time.Also, I'm traveling to Armenia so availability of filters and other supplies might be nonexistent. I'll be shooting both black and white and color film, and I'm struggling which filters to bring. I know for sure I'm bring a full set of color contrast filters(R29, R25, YA3, YA2, K2, K1, X1, and X0), but color film filters are harder to pick out. Hi all, I realize one doesn't have to go on a photography tour in order to do photography, obviously. I've been on lots of general trips where I've been able to bring along most of the gear I wanted to. But breaking out a tripod or something is a different level, I think, than some outfits might tolerate in terms of keeping groups moving, etc.   I have been looking at a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Hello,   I will be visiting Hawaii anytime from May till mid September (any preference of month should I have?), for 10 days. I am browsing tons of posts on tripadvisor and it looks overwhelming to me, as there are so many places. Lot of beaches. So can't figure, what are places I should skip and what I should not miss. I will be going with family, so no long hikes and we are not fan of water sports. So far, it looks like most folks suggest Kauai is must.
