So I recently got back into fly fishing, ordered new lines etc etc the norm. A few people I fish with have said that I need a leader? Now I've never used a leader I've always tied tippet straight to my fly line... I usually tie 6/7ft of tippet on and its fine. I've never had any problems without a leader, but should I really be using one ..read more

Are there any modern "value" rods with a similar action to and old 5 weight XP490? Dut to a rotator cuff injury I've been using mine to fish lures and while its an absolute joy to cast I'm scared it might get damaged. TIA ..read more

Vision Koma reel

I've been fishing with mine now for three months and find it brilliant. I think it was voted (Best in Test by one of the magazines) and I can understand why. My mate had a go with my rod the other day and remarked that the reel was lovely to use. I bought it for £49.99 plus added two more spools at £35 as it came with a spare, so for £84.99 I now have a set up that I'm very happy with. If you're a beginner/novice then look no further. You'll be very pleased ..read more

Doing a homemade stripping basket using the readily used child step, I may lower it yet by making the belt holes higher. I'm going to add some spikes and got some caulking / silicone type nozzles to do it, can anyone give me an idea of the spacings to leave between them please and how tall I should make them? Also before I do that what are the benefits of that type of conical nozzle and the long whispy ones I've seen on some stripping baskets / trays ..read more

Turning waders inside out.. yay or nay?

I've got into the habit of turning my Vision chest waders inside out after every fishing session as they can get a bit sweaty inside, especially the neoprene feet I was just wondering if others do the same: after every trip, maybe less often? Or never? It's definitely not an easy task and a bit of a chore. I'm also wondering if by doing this after every trip I'm putting unnecessary stress on the seams and will actually end up damaging them prematurely ..read more

I broke the 3rd section of my favourite old Greys XF2 10’ #7 at Pitsford yesterday :-(. If anyone has the same rod to sell or has a piece they’re willing to part with I’d love to hear. Greys are no longer doing replacement parts for the XF2 unfortunately as it’s quite old ..read more
