I'm interested in what others have or are using for scaling their fish when cleaning those they keep for eating. I prefer fish fried with the skin on but end up deskinning most of the time due to the mess with the scales getting all over, so thought I would ask since I still just use a spoon for scaling or the back of a knife when I go that route.
I see they have electric rotary handheld units that look like they could remove scales fast with not much effort but possibly throw scales...

Tied my 1st Lefty Kreh this AM. Way easier than the Alberto. I'm sold.
Only question is: In over 60 years of fishing how come I didn't know about this? You learn something every day if you pay attention.

So, I posted yesterday that I picked up 2 Sealine 27Hs. That now makes 3 total. I have not taken them out fishing or done anything with them yet. I don't know how much if ever they have been used, cleaned or parts replaced. What I'm asking is I'm thinking at bare minimum they just be taken apart to be greased and oiled. Should I upgrade the washers or bearing? Any thoughts would be appreciated ..read more

Spending the last couple of mornings watching you tube videos instead of reading the paper. Boy have things changed! Any way, ran across this for swim baits. Anyone tried threading a trail hook on the end of the bait? Just curious not sure I'm going
to commit to all the extra work but if it works, who knows ..read more

So I really got into throwing weedless and nose hooked drop shot worms this past year when I wasn't on a river. Problem was the head blow out after a fish or two and I'd burn through a bag an outing on a hot bite. Can't turn them if there's a flat side, can't reverse rig them as they are tapered for a nose and tail. Came across some VMC crossover rings not too long ago but didn't really like the idea of using them on a drop shot(they do work great for neko rigs). Last week I was putting an...

This is probably irrelevant to everyone here but I had to post.
I have slayed my white whale.
War Eagle spinnerbaits has a custom skirt color called Spot Remover. It’s a great unique baitfish color. Two of the colors are available from skirt tab sellers, but the third color, a very pale translucent chartreuse with some flake, is literally not anywhere to be found. It’s likely a proprietary color that is still under control by War Eagle. I know ZMan has it now and it’s starting to emerge in...

Is fluorocarbon line worth the cost to spool a whole reel with it? I use it for leader material tied to braid because of its stealth characteristics, but does it have any advantage over mono or braid. I have read opinions regarding knot strength, sink rate, casting distance, memory, stretch, etc. and wonder if it is really a difference maker to justify the price ..read more
