Looking to replace my Greys Gr70 which decided to give up the ghost today. What are people using for single hand rods? Would get most of its use for trout in lakes and reservoirs but I do like to have something suitable for salmon and sea trout too. The Greys might have been a tiny bit stiff for me so if there's a slightly more forgiving comparison I'd be interested in hearing what people like ..read more

Happy Easter to all of you,
has anyone experience with the lighter NAM rods, for example the #7 12,7ft or the #6? How would they behave in comparison to the LOOP Z- rods?
Is there only a marginal difference?
Any shared impression is welcome ..read more

I've been perfectly happy with my switch rods to date.
A Sage One 8 weight and a pair of Airflo Nan Tec's's in 6 and 7 weight's.
Now the Sage is a little Salmon rod and takes Salmon rated lines, the two Airflo's take trout lines and I reach for those in times of low water when they really do shine.
However there are times when the Sage is too much rod and the Airflo's aren't quite enough, certainly for sink tips and weighted tubes.
So I'd like something about 6/7 for 27g heads 11ft 6 ish and...

Well, a quest to buy tippet rings got out of hand and I found the above rod for not a lot of money. Now I've convinced myself I have a use for a 15ft rod (debatable!) I'm just looking for ideas for lines and any experience with the rod. I have a set of Gaelforce 10wt tips and along with a Rio scandi body courtesy of @rotenone I have a shooting head setup for it now about 650gr, which should be a good starting point I expect.
I'm interested in what other lines people have...

Good day all,
I am using this rod for steelhead right now. Very light and smooth flexing through the cork.
I am using shorter shooting heads w/tips at about 535gn (34grams) over 32' (Guideline 4D and compact). Casts go out very well. The short heads work for me in North America, Greal Lakes tributaries for steelhead. I had tried setups between 32 and 35 grams, 30'-35' before settling.
Any other line pairings to suggest? I don't really use longer lines on this rod, it is all about...

Looking to move up from my switch rod to something more around the 12ft mark in a 7 or 7/8. Looking to match it to lines I already have including a Barrio switch 425gr and a Guideline Compact Multi-Tip 29g set, so around the 425-475ish range. I was looking at the likes of the Loop Cross S1 if anyone has any opinions? Primary use would be smaller flies and summer conditions ..read more

Any opinions on this rod from those who've used it? I have a chance to buy a four piece version for not a lot of money in great condition. I'd be thinking of using it with shooting heads in 500-520gr most likely. Have a 3d+ 510gr in mind for it initially. Is it a particularly stiff rod compared with the likes of an NT8 which I'd have experience with? Any line recommendation if I'm on the wrong track ..read more
