Wildlife sightings
Information about wildlife watching and sightings in Minnesota and how people can report their own sightings when they're recreating outside.
www.dnr.state.mn.us
I saw this in my local paper, starting in May (though the link doesn't appear to work), the MN DNR wants citizens to report sightings of turkeys and pheasants (just saw both in my yard this morning!) for scientific study.
Thought I'd post it here for those interesting ..read more

I grew up hunting in the 90's and we didnt wear safety glasses while hunting or shooting clays. Maybe that was just us, but I really never saw anyone else wear them aside from people shooting clays. We always wore ear muffs for clays though.
I work in heavy industry, and for the last 20 years, I practically live with saftey glasses on. I started wearing them hunting and shooting clays about 10-12 years ago. When my 8yo son tags along for clays or a hunt, it is ear muffs and glasses that are...

I've been carrying a shotgun in the field for close to 70 years, and today I had a chance to use one of the very first safety lessons my father taught me as a 10-year old. It's a lesson I will encourage everyone to know and follow.
WV Spring turkey season is in full swing (Apr 15 - May 19), and I was in my blind before dawn, as usual, ever hopeful that today is the day that my patience and hard work will pay off. Balancing the gun on a makeshift rest, I leaned forward to check some noise in...

No unusual at all where I live. In fact it would be unusual if I found no nests.
But usually the doves nesting are invasive Eurasian Doves.
Loud aggressive and messy. I try to destroy their nest before eggs are laid if I can get to them. They have taken to the palm trees on my property in recent years to avoid me.
But this one is different. I looked up going into my house startled at 2 doves staring back. They both bolted.
But I noticed they didn’t have the neck bands of the Eurasian doves...

Viral Articles Claim Two ‘Hunters Died After Consuming CWD-Infected Venison.’ Here’s What Really Happened
Media coverage suggesting that two hunters died after eating CWD-infected venison caused alarm on Thursday.
www.outdoorlife.com
There are many articles circulating about two hunters who ate venison from a herd that had known CWD cases. They died of a different prion disease, though articles are trying to conclude that it was from CWD, of course, without any real evidence or proof that the two men ate infected meat. Do you think it is possible for CWD to make the jump to humans? I’m ..read more

Made a dxf and burned me a quater plate bird feeder on break with some drops, then on 2nd break hit it in the press. Got home and burned some 6011 on it with a beer.
It Isn't see through, roof weighs 10 pounds, but whoever crawls on it after smearing it with peanut butter gets B lead or bigger, and the birds continue.
Unless its tree rat season. Then a 40grain round nose 22LR remington thunderpoop through the boys open sights crickett for dumplings. Right now $27 buys 525 rounds @ buds...

Anyone ever do a activity & wound up doing something you'd never do & not realize it until after you've done it?
Here's one of mine, true story. This one is 30+ years old.
Group of us were dove hunting one afternoon in a corn field. Turned out to be a real good dove hunt. Lots of doves & shooting. Later after the doves quit coming, we all gathered up for the after shoot bull session, then one by one left. I was the last one in the field, I had limited out right about the time the doves...
