Hearing about some size limit changes coming on the Muskegon. With the big lodge, not surprising this was coming.
Heard they want to go to 15" size limit on browns. Thought I heard upping the plantings also.
On a river that warms to temps that kill browns, what is the die off going to be, to produce a few bigger fish? There is potential for a major waste of our resources. So my next question would be, is there a study tied into this ..read more

Today a buddy called me up, he got a fly fishing pole for his sons 10th birthday, it's his first one. He lives in Rochester mi, he asked me to meet him in the downtown municipal park and we can show him how to use it. He's casting away goofing around we have a Rod to show him how to cast. Then we had a guy come up to us and tell us we can't fish in the Paint Creek it's closed this time of year, he's been fishing it since 1980? WTF? It's always been my understanding that the creek is open...

There had been discussion about this in the Coldwater Committee, see the minutes in a previous thread for details. The NRC voted on and passed it. Pretty good imo, perfect isn’t possible and this clears up some things while allowing some of the newer styles of flies that didn’t exist in the ‘70s.
