Autocross Season is Upon Us! The AX season has begun! Last weekend our sister Zone 7 regions, GGR and LPR, held a Saturday/Sunday autocross event at Cow Palace. See below for Drew Powers‘ best run of the day. But let’s be real. Not everyone drives like Drew, even though a lot of us try! One thing that is very easy to accomplish: no matter how fast you drive, whether you can recognize an early or late apex, or if you think the “right line” is the punchline to a joke — you’ll have a blast at autocross. From beginners to the highly skilled, it’s a day (or weekend) of pure excitement. Redw ..read more

“Newbie” Autocross Redwood Region took advantage of unseasonably warm fall weather to put on a “newbie” Autocross event just before Thanksgiving. A record 24 brand new autocrossers were born at Sonoma Raceway! Many thanks to our tireless instructors who kept the event safe and fun. Thunderhill Autocross April couldn’t have come soon enough for the AX fans among us. Our first autocross took place over the April 17-18 weekend at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA. Our sister region Sacramento Valley Region (SVR) ran on Saturday, and we ran on Sunday. It was a fast and fun course that we took in one direction on Saturday, and the opposite direction on Sunday, with a few modifications. The weather was beautiful (if not a little hot, TBH), in the low to mid-90s, but that didn’t slow anybody down. Monty Pack from the Golden Gate Region took home Top Time of the Day with a 4 ..read more

Back in the Paddock Again It might have been short (only two events this year), but we wrapped our season at the paddock at Sonoma Raceway this past Sunday. 40 drivers showed up ready to run. With a cross over course designed by Autocross Co-Chair Drew Powers, the competitive juices were flowing. Not only was it fun to see some familiar Redwood Region faces, but many GGR, LPR and SVR members were there as well, including AX Chairs from all three other regions: Himanshu Patel (GGR), Dave Dunwoodie (LPR) and John Leet (SVR). Thanks for your support and participation! The morning got off to a ..read more

AX Happy Hour If you’ve ever been to a Redwood Region autocross, you probably know the group meets up at a local restaurant after for some cold beers and snacks to share stories of the day, relive the good and bad of our runs and just enjoy each other’s company.  Once COVID restrictions put the kibosh on our first AX of 2020, the idea was floated that we should get the gang together anyway over Zoom. The time was set for the late afternoon on what was to be our first AX of the year, May 3, and we put the word out on our website, social channels and emailed former autocross attendees.
