Hey everyone, I recently came across an amzing looking lure, the mmd Whiting Glide Bait, only problem is its 50g and I don't really have a rod that matches that weight. The only rod ive got that could possibly throw it on is an Atomic Arowzz Easturay spinning rod with a casting wait of 5-21g, I have thrown heavier weights on it before and it held up fine, I do have hope simpliy because of videos of youtubers throwing large lures of there lighter baitcasting setup ..read more

School free day. End of their Holidays. Arrived around sunrise. Top morning. One of the easiest places to go rock fishing. First up a nice drummer ( Released ) The boys caught 2 tailor. I caught two nice snapper 45cm & 48cm. The boys caught 2 flathead & another tailor. They were happy. Enough for me for my return to the rocks. I tried out my new rod. Storm Gomoku 13ft. Casts very well. I had a Penn SpinfisherV 6000 reel on it. Good combo. Newport Arms for breakfast Lots of laughs. Cheers ..read more

Hi All. Taking it easy. Rocks & Beach fishing can come later. Luderick & Bream were the go. Arrived after sunrise, bit on the cool side. Few people about. Forgot it was still school holidays. Very quiet. Caught 3 blackfish in over an hour. Size 32 to 34 cm. I think it may be too early for blackfish. But the burley seemed to work. Moved to south side of the channel near the bridge for some bream. Caught 2 nice bream around 34cm. Puppy was happy. Moved on the crowds were starting to arrive. Had two rods with me. Redcliffe was loaded with boats....like a regatta....hundreds of boats everywhere.....pine was the heaviest i have ever seen it too. 2 small snaps, 1 decent flounder, more than 6 tailor up to 60cm.....went into the pine for a look...found a pile of fish near the slabs with two big jew under them.....i pinned 1 jew on 8lb line.....that finished as soon as it found out it was hooked. Raef got done by something decent on the rock shelf.....boated several brassy trevally and small jew.....got about 2 litres of prawns for lunch. All fish released ..read more

Hi, I am heading up to North West Island, QLD from Moruya Heads on the South Coast of NSW. We are spending around 16 days on the island with family and taking a 455 Quintrex with 60HP Yamaha. Keen to do a bit of fishing/spearing while out there. If anyone has any suggestions on gear, lures, recommended shoals/reefs/spots to check out or gear to bring to the island any insight would be appreciated. 1st time to this area and super keen to get onto some Reds and possibly a few big GT's, Doggies and Spanish Mackeral. It is with a heavy heart that I tell the tale of a long lasting friendship that ended on Friday. It was about 1982 I was introduced to GT270 and we became inseparable for nearly 43 years. I dressed it up with all the nicest of accompaniments over those years and it served me well with many fine encounters of being triumphant. Yesterday I had to wait for my car to be fixed at Urangan Hervey bay, and had some time to kill so went for a walk to the jetty as I haven't been there for a while. Talking to the locals near the end, and apparently there has been a very large Tiger shark hanging around there for a couple of days. One of the locals saw it relatively close up and said it was about 4m long and about 1m wide across. It was going for a mackerel he had in the water and had to yank it up quickly.
