My son wants to catch bigger sized pollock and since we have no boat I was thinking of getting a longer rod. BP has a sale on Penn Pursuit Reels right now and thinking of getting one and then matching it up with a Penn Squadron 3 Surf Rod, between 8 -10 feet. Everyone says it's easy to catch pollock but I have done TONS of Mackerel fishing and usually never catch pollock. I find they are good eating for fish and chips etc. (for someone like myself who doesn't like strong flavored fish). I wouldn't eat a resident of the Halifax Harbor but is there an area close to Halifax that I can catch some edible pollock and what do you guys like to use to fish them? Lures? Live bait? Dead Bait?
