The fly is a size 6 ahrex curvered saltwater hook tied to look like a sandsmelt or baby mullet. The bass was safely returned ..read more

I decided on a quick bass on the fly session before breakfast this morning. spent a hour and a half on the beach using a inch and a half long baitfish pattern that i had tied for the purpose, it resulted in this bass at around 52 cm plus a garfish and another bass that didnt make it to the net ..read more

This morning I'd planned to go to the river at first light and try for a sea trout,
I woke up at 4 am and checked the river levels online, over night rain and the river was rising again, gggrrrrr
With that I decided I'd get back on the bass
I managed 2 bass, 1, of 4lb which took 40 yards of fly line and 50 odd yards of backing , never had a bass of that size fight so hard which was great fun.
Then a smaller bass of 2lb, both returned to fight another day ..read more
