I have often wondered why we don`t use Salmon rods off the beach, we have evolved with trout fly rods to salt water fly fishing. I really enjoy swff the sport is great, but sometimes the wind on the beach is so strong I have to revert to spinning. I`m thinking a salmon set up would cut through this ? I have been looking at switch rods is there a difference between switch and salmon rods? Apart from the salt factor why wouldn`t a salmon rod work off the beach ? Thoughts much appreciated...
