most of the guys with penn reels I have seen are using braid...I use conventional so I use only mono...The braid seems to improve distance, less wind resistance ..read more

Hello Everybody,
Anybody out there surf casting with a Penn 710Z? I've got two of them loaded with 15# mono on two Lami 9' glass rods. I noticed that the line doesn't lay on the spool evenly when I hold the rod at a 15-45 degree angle. It will lay on evenly when I hold the rod straight-up. It's like the reels want pressure applied to the mono when it's being reeled in. I've tried different drag settings and it doesn't seem t make a difference. A lot of line twist and birds nests...

Got one today, 3500 for $105, traded with old reel and spooled. Originally $189
They will take an old reel on trade and you can save about an extra $20.
Old reels go to kids charities.

Good day all,
I have sent a question to Penn Fishing from their site. It is a very simple question about the availability of spare spools for my Spinnfisher Long Cast reels.
Two emails, not one response in over a month.
I'm considering not buying the 4 new Penn Reels that I will need in two weeks for four new rods I'm getting.
I love my Penn Reels, but bad customer service will push me to another vendor.
Anyone else having customer service issues with Penn Fishing.
Thanx

Unfortunately, VerticalScope,Inc. has suffered some software issues with photos not showing on all of its 1500 forums. The developers have been working feverishly on the problems for more than a week. There is no estimated time for repair. When it happens, it happens.
Please continue with your patience and understanding.
Thank you.
