On a bit of a whim I recently got myself a Shakespeare Oracle 2 Switch, 11ft 7/8wt. I went for this particular rod as I got to try one at a meet-up for new members of Kirriemuir Angling Club on the South Esk recently. Now, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to two-handed casting styles but I found it great fun, amazingly light and really satisfying to cast. Has anyone got any pictures of them and also, where in the British Isles do they occur? I ask because I always thought they were only found in the Scotland and Ireland and then mostly in the north and... Slob Trout/Estuary Trout ..read more

At the risk of opening up a colossal can of worms, do any of you have thoughts on whether large golden trout caught in brackish water are sea trout? I caught two this week and lost another. The colour was distinctly different from normal sea trout ..read more
