On a bit of a whim I recently got myself a Shakespeare Oracle 2 Switch, 11ft 7/8wt. I went for this particular rod as I got to try one at a meet-up for new members of Kirriemuir Angling Club on the South Esk recently. On Monday (the 12th of February) two sea trout were reported from the Naver just below the loch. These reports of very early sea trout occur every year but under cross examination the rods almost always say "they were bright silver but a bit thin". Or in other words they are sea trout kelts! Yet I can't recall anyone ever producing a picture of a slob/estuary trout taken from tidal water showing what they do actually look like.
