Inland Fisheries Ireland, through its newly announced national barriers programme, is addressing the issue of water quality and particularly in reference to hydromorphological impacts as outlined in Ireland’s third cycle of the river basin management plan. Government funding of €110 million has been approved for this initiative to remove, mitigate and where possible lessen the ecological impact of river barriers on migrating and resident fish species. South bull be dead handy for you that time of year hounds might be showing and bass,not sure on spinning rod but defo on bsit never say never but can spin right off end bit of hike tho,maybe dunlaoighre too worth a shot or howth is close aswell altho not much faith in there

Got out off Killybegs yesterday for a bit of drift fishing. It was'nt a real busy day fishwise but some decent pollack, coalie and a few pouting. The weather was beautiful (got a bit of colour) and there was no waves to speak of. We were visited a few times by a basking shark just outside the bay which was lovely to watch just cruising by us. All in all a pretty nice start to the season.
