I tried searching hook sizes for different setups but didn't get all the answers. I think the main answer is to match the hook with the bait size. However I am wondering what size hooks to use for alewives for skamania, coho, and kings. Do you use different sizes or 1/0 like some of the guys use for shrimp?
Looking to get one 100 pack of gamakatsus which would be more hooks for the dollar.
I used eagle claw bait holder hook for spring coho and was not impressed in the hook setting...

Fished an East side pier for a few hours this afternoon and did pretty well. I limited out on Atlantics casting hit sticks and we also got a nice steelhead on spawn off a set line. The Atlantics were chasing right up to the wall and hitting at your feet! We also had a double, with a bigger Atlantic and the steelhead. We also had a large laker follow a bait in

Fished Port Sanilac for 2 1/2 hours this morning . Caught this steelhead on an emerald shiner under a slip bobber. He hit on the outside. Water was murky, only 1 foot visibility. Nothing on lures. This was the only fish caught while I was there. But what a beautiful morning, sun and light winds ..read more

Looking for a couple rods to do some surf fishing. Have a couple 9' Steelie rods, but wondering if I should pick up a couple 10' or even 10'6 rods. I see the Daiwa Acculite and Okuma Celilo are very reasonable....Do you guys prefer a longer rod and if so do you light light or medium light rod ..read more
