When this film was released in 1958, Alfred Hitchcock had to change the ending of the film for release in the U.K. and perhaps other European countries.
SPOILER ALERT
In the North American release, Jimmy Stewart was shown, looking down from the bell Tower. In the 1958 release in the U.K, the ending quite different.
