Mountain Ridge Adventure in Schenectady is now open for its ninth season. At Mountain Ridge Adventure, you can experience the zip-line park and the obstacle courses. The obstacle courses start off low to the ground and are relatively easy, and progressively get higher off the ground and more difficult. The zip-line park lets you experience the thrill of flying on a 10-zipline canopy tour over a 500-foot gorge. We spoke with one of the owners what guests can expect. New hotel expected to bring more jobs, tourism to Schenectady

There’s a new hotel coming to Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady. The new Hyatt House will be five stories tall and include 100 rooms, along with a pool, gym and bar, according to The Galesi Group. It will include 75,000 square feet of space. The project will bring more jobs and money into the area, according to Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. An annual event that raises thousands of dollars to help firefighters and their families who are battling cancer is being held Saturday in Schenectady. More than 600 runners are expected to take park in the annual ‘Run 4 Your Life’ race in Central Park as well. Schenectady man dies in Saratoga County Jail

A Schenectady man arrested Saturday on drug and weapons charges has died in jail. Derek Labutta, 43, was picked up by Saratoga Springs police officers after he was seen smoking an illegal substance at the Woodlawn Avenue parking garage, investigators said. He was also charged with weapons possession. Labutta was found at Saratoga County Jail shortly after 7 p.m., according to investigators. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful. Agreement reached to keep Schenectady’s MiSci open

Deal reached for $50 million ice hockey rink in Schenectady

Union College and Schenectady County have reached an agreement to build a $50 million arena at Mohawk Harbor as part of a public-private partnership. The 97,178-square-foot arena will feature a 2,200 seat ice hockey rink. It will have the capacity to expand to 3,600 seats for other sporting events, trade shows, special events and conventions, the county said in a statement.  Union College has negotiated a long-term lease with the developer, West Yard Properties, to be the primary tenant.
