It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and longtime fundholder at the Center for Arab American Philanthropy, Dr. Philip M. Kayal. Dr. Kayal passed away only a few weeks after his 80th birthday surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Dr. Kayal’s legacy is nothing short of extraordinary. Every year, CAAP’s Community Impact Fund makes grants to Arab American organizations across the country. The funds provided through this grant help grantees cover overhead costs such as staffing, supplies, and utilities, which are often not covered by program-specific grants. This year, CAAP granted $90,000, combined with $50,000 from the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), to grant a total of $140,000 to 17 Arab American organizations across the country providing human services, promoting arts and culture and doing advocacy work.
