Here is an opportunity to lend a hand on the ski trails at Mt St Gwinear.
With winter approaching the Friends of Baw Baw NP Inc are organising a working bee which will prep the trails for skiing and snow shoeing during the 2024 snow season.
Date: 27 April 2024 (Saturday)
Meet at: Mt St Gwinear car park
Time: 8:30 AM for a 9 AM work start
There will be jobs for all with work including clearing trails, improving drainage and emptying water bars all possible on the day...

Although the Stirlo cams were MIA I still took a chance and headed to TBJ A 3hr drive is better than a 8-9 month wait until winter 2024.
TBJ had a few cars parked but pretty quite 1st up. I walked to the summit via the summit trail Patches of snow began from approx 100m elev gain after pole 34 but still not enough to ski continuously Ditto at. I see from this forum that it was 51 weeks and 3 days since the last trip report for this part of the world - time for an update.
A cool and damp evening resulted in a quick dump of 2-3 cm of dry but rapidly softening snow across the Dandenongs. We have a large garden, so we could enjoy it without breaking curfew.

Having encountered multiple mobs of horses today on the summit walk of Tantangara Mountain, I feel as though more effort should be directed at stray groups of horses! All the large groups either moved on, or if far enough away just stayed put and ate calmly. So here we were, with the hut in sight and the mountain too, but standing between them are 2 rogue horses who begin to approach us. So I move up hill into the treeline, they pause for a second before charging with speed towards us again...
