(Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images)   Over the winter, the Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins made a very well-balanced trade. Minnesota acquired right-hander Pablo Lopez and sent reigning American League batting champion Luis Arraez back to Miami. So far, the deal appears to be working out pretty well for the Marlins, who find themselves in second place in the National League East, not too far behind the Atlanta Braves. In fact, Arraez is hitting at a .399 clip through his first 61 games of the season. In doing so, he has joined an elite list of players with the highest batting averages ..read more

(Photo by Eric Espada/Getty Images)   Hitting .400 over a full MLB season is not only hard to achieve these days: you could argue that it’s nearly impossible. Some Hall of Famers have done it, but all of them played in the first half of the 20th century. Baseball was just different back then: there wasn’t the focus on strikeouts there is now, and pitchers didn’t even approach 100 mph. The last man to hit .400 was Ted Williams in 1941, when he had a .406 batting average. Miami Marlins infielder Luis Arraez is very much chasing history. Yes, the season is just two months and a week old. Yes ..read more

(Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)   The Miami Marlins needed offense in the offseason, so they went out and brought in former Minnesota Twins infielder Luis Arraez to help solve their issues. One man can only do so much, but it’s safe to say the acquisition of Arraez has been a great one. He doesn’t have a whole lot of power, but he sure can put the bat on the ball. In 227 plate appearances, Arraez is hitting an extraordinary .392/.445/.485 with one home run, but 14 doubles and a triple. That batting average comfortably leads the majors and is closing in on historical relevance. It’s t ..read more

(Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)   The trade between the Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins that sent Luis Arraez to Miami for Pablo Lopez appears to have worked out just fine for both teams involved. The Marlins have especially benefitted from having Arraez in their lineup. The team is 26-26 and sits just one game back of the New York Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot. But Arraez has picked up right where he left off from a year ago when he won the AL batting title. In fact, Arraez has the highest on-base percentage of any player in the National League, reaching base at a .426 ..read more

(Photo by Mark Brown/Getty Images)   During Friday night’s game between the Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants, some truly odd moments took place. In the bottom of the eighth inning, catcher Jacob Stallings and manager Skip Schumaker were both ejected from the game. When Giants designated hitter J.D. Davis appeared to not be in the batter’s box in time for Marlins reliever Bryan Hoeing’s 3-2 pitch, Stallings called time. However, it was not granted and Davis ultimately went to first base. This prompted an argument from Stallings and Schumaker, both of whom were subsequently ejected. O ..read more

(Photo by Mark Brown/Getty Images)   The Miami Marlins revealed some exciting news on Wednesday afternoon. They are calling up their best prospect, pitcher Eury Perez, to start on Friday. Perez is on the shortlist for the unofficial “best pitching prospect” title with Grayson Rodriguez, Andrew Painter, Ricky Tiedemann, and a few others. His talent is just like him: big. He is 6-foot-8, but unlike other pitchers with that kind of build, he can throw strikes with ease and has command of four excellent pitches. One of them is a fastball that sits in the high-90s. His best pitch might be his ..read more

(Photo by Chris Coduto/Getty Images)   For years, sports fans have been fascinated by the concept of clutch performance. What determines if a certain athlete, or team, is clutch? Is it something that has any predictive value at all? MLB is no exception, and we are currently witnessing a marvelous, yet somewhat undervalued showing of clutch play. The Miami Marlins are at their best when the game is on the line, with both teams separated by just one run near the end of the contest. They even broke a record. Marlins insider Craig Mish explains. “The 2023 Miami Marlins have broken MLB’s all-t ..read more

(Photo by Mark Brown/Getty Images)   Despite a bad offense that ranks last in MLB with 124 runs scored as of Wednesday afternoon, the Miami Marlins actually have a chance to compete for a spot in the postseason. Whether it is a good chance or not will depend on many things and every person’s opinion, but a chance is a chance. And since they intend to contend, they are making a win-now move that will surely have a huge impact on their season shall they decide to make it permanent. “The Miami Marlins are calling up 20 year old top pitching prospect Eury Perez. So far, the deal has worked out well for both teams. It has made an immediate positive impact on the Marlins, who many expected to be out of contention. (Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images)   There is no question Pablo Lopez has been a magnificent addition to the Minnesota Twins’ rotation. However, it’s also fair to say that the Miami Marlins are more than happy with what they got for the star pitcher: infielder Luis Arraez. The reigning AL batting champion – the man who prevented Aaron Judge’s Triple Crown last year – is performing at a really high level with the bat once again, showcasing his talents in the National League for an offense-needy team. Arraez’s .438 batting average and .500 OBP both pace the majors as we head to the second ..read more
