The Kansas City Royals have not been good this season.
But that was to be expected with the look of their roster.
Kansas City has the second-worst record in baseball at 55-105.
Despite the record, it is not all bad in Kansas City.
They have one of the best young players in baseball on their team.
Bobby Witt Jr. is having another great season and even reached an impressive milestone.
As noted by Royals Daily, Witt reached a 30/30 season on Friday night.

A few weeks ago, Cole Ragans was an expendable pitcher on the Texas Rangers’ roster.
He was an underachiever, having posted mediocre ERAs in 2022 (4.95) and during his stint in the Lone Star state in 2023 (5.92).
His destiny was about to change, though.
Ragans was included in the Aroldis Chapman trade, packing his bags and landing on the Kansas City Royals.
His career has taken off since switching squads.
He went from being a journeyman to one of the best pitchers in the American League in the blink of an eye.
Now, he is even in the top ten of MLB’s pitc ..read more

In 2022, Cole Ragans was a pitcher for the Texas Rangers organization and averaged around 92 mph with his fastball.
He had a 4.95 ERA in 40 frames.
After a 5.92 ERA in 24.1 innings this year, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals in the Aroldis Chapman deal.
All he has done since landing in Kansas City is dominate.
Before taking the ball on Monday against the Chicago White Sox, Ragans (a former first-round draft pick) had a 3.27 ERA in 2023 overall and a 1.73 ERA (!) in 41.2 innings with the Royals.
His marked improvement stems from an uptick in veloci ..read more

The Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
The Boston Red Sox did the same to the Kansas City Royals.
Why were these results relevant?
Well, because they sent the Royals to MLB’s cellar.
For months, the A’s were widely recognized as MLB’s worst team, and their place in the standings backed that up.
Now, Oakland doesn’t have the worst record in the league: Kansas City does.
The Royals opened Monday with a 42-96 record, and the A’s are at 42-95.

Bobby Witt Jr. is quickly becoming one of baseball’s most well-rounded shortstops.
In just his second season, he has put up some truly fantastic numbers.
The 23-year-old is hitting .281 with 25 home runs, 80 RBI, and an OPS of .824.
He also made some history on Monday night as the Kansas City Royals faced off against the Oakland Athletics.
The young slugger became the fifth shortstop in Major League history to hit 25 home runs and steal at least 35 bases in the same season, with a minimum of 75 percent of his games being played at the shortstop pos ..read more

The Kansas City Royals are lucky enough to have one of the most dynamic young players in all of baseball.
Bobby Witt Jr. is somebody who can do a little bit of everything on a baseball field and is also one of many reasons why the Royals are optimistic about their future.
On Monday, Witt showed off some elite speed in the Royals’ game against the red-hot Seattle Mariners, hitting an inside-the-park home run as the Royals pulled away with a 7-6 victory.
In fact, Witt managed to circle the bases in quick fashion, doing it in just 14.3 seconds.
That’s the f ..read more

Bobby Witt Jr. is one of baseball’s most exciting young players.
Witt came up last season and made his Major League debut with the Kansas City Royals.
His solid rookie season was enough to earn him some superfans.
One such superfan came all the way from Atlanta to see the Royals play on July 28.
A young girl named Rae attended the game at Kauffman Stadium between the Royals and the Minnesota Twins.
Witt is her favorite player and she got to see him hit a walk-off grand slam to win the game.

Friday night was a big night for the Kansas City Royals as they took the series opener from the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
Leading the way for the Royals was shortstop and slugger Bobby Witt Jr.
Witt found himself in the conversation for the American League Rookie of the Year Award last fall.
On Friday, Witt hit his 20th home run of the season as the Royals won 7-5 over the Phillies.
In doing so, the young Royals shortstop reached a historic mark, becoming the first player in Major League history ..read more

The Kansas City Royals swept the New York Mets on Thursday afternoon, taking the series finale with an impressive 9-2 score.
Starting pitcher Brady Singer (5.10 ERA) keeps improving as the days go on after a nightmarish start of the season, and Bobby Witt Jr. is absolutely on fire: he hit another home run in the game and now has 19 on the year.
Yes, it was against the short-handed Mets, but a sweep is a sweep and six straight wins are very significant for a team like the Royals.
As Talkin’ Baseball notes, they just might be the hottest team in baseball ..read more

There is no question, at this point, that Bobby Witt Jr. has been the best player on the Kansas City Royals roster.
Not that the Royals have too much to offer (you don’t have a 31-75 record with mostly good players), but Witt’s 3.3 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) is proof that he really belongs in the conversation of most talented young players in the league.
What he has done in the last two games, however, is not just “good”: it’s magnificent.
Between Friday and Saturday’s games, Witt has gone 8-for-10 with two homers, four runs, a double, a triple, an ..read more
