Escif plays with public space in a way that is both original and rare. What I have always loved about Aubrey Levinthal's work, the Philadelphia based painter having a solo show currently at Haverkampf Leistenschneider in Berlin, is that she paints memory the way it actually situatues in our lives. Some moments are clear, with a sheen of haze, something a tad foggy but the characters and the moment just clear enough.
