Sexual justice and consent do not exist under genocide. From unsafe and unmedicated birth (including C-sections without anesthesia) to sexual violence and mass murder by the Israeli military, what we are witnessing in Gaza couldn't be farther from sexual justice or consent.
Since our country is actively funding this mass murder of over 30,000 people and counting, I feel a responsibility as a U.S. resident to do everything in my power to stop this.
When I was living in Jerusalem, I connected with a young sex educator in Gaza named Mohammed. I interviewed him about what sex ed in Gaza was like ..read more

This week, a U.S. Air Force member named Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire to protest the genocide in Gaza after receiving classified military information. His last words were "Free Palestine!"
It can be easy to write off this sort of extreme protest as a mental health mistake. But that that would mean missing the incredibly powerful statement Bushnell made.
As Palestinian poet and journalist Mohammed El-Kurd pointed out, according to mainstream U.S. society, if a soldier sacrifices themself to protect U.S. interests, they are seen as a hero. But if they sacrifice themself to protest the ge ..read more

It's hard to express how bad things are in Gaza right now. I have an internet friend who lives there and it is heart-wrenching to hear him fear death, and recently, mourn the death of a close childhood friend.
I know that lots of sex-positive folks (and other leftists) are thinking "People on both sides are suffering. We shouldn't focus on Palestinians above Israelis. What about anti-semitism?"
I hear you. The oppression and mass murder that we've seen societies carry out against Jewish folks is too horrifying for words to express. And anti-semitism is still a real problem today.
But Israel ..read more

This year has been a lot. At times, it has been despair-inducing, and other times it's been heartwarming. Pretty much all the time, it has been hectic and I've been spread too thin. But it has also been so rewarding.
A recent highlight for me was yesterday when I showed my internet friend in Gaza the zine I made of his words about the war. He responded, "Thank you Nicole, no words will describe how it means to do that for me."
While Pleasure Pie mainly focuses on sexual freedom, we know that sexual freedom can't exist without basic safety and freedom. Since the situation in Gaza is so urgent ..read more

Zines are a great way to educate our communities and help move people to action.
Here are some free printable zine PDFs about Palestine. Feel free to print as many as you'd like and distribute them.
A Gazan Young Man Dreams of a Peaceful Death
A heart-wrenching zine written by a young man in Gaza. He reflects on what it's like to live in a time when Israel is killing massive amounts of Palestinian civilians on a daily basis. This zine is short but powerful.

An Interview with Public Health Advocate Lyv Norris
Sex Ed Isn't Spooky rally at the Massachusetts State House, October 2023
Massachusetts is known for being a liberal haven, along with the rest of New England. But our state policies aren’t always as progressive as you might expect.
For instance, MA schools aren’t required to teach sex education. And if they do teach sex ed, they aren’t required to talk about consent, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
They also aren’t required to make sure that the info in their sex ed classes is medically accurate. If that sounds bad to you, t ..read more

Social media is increasingly censoring content about sex education and sexual rights. This can be disheartening—and even downright scary—for folks who rely on these communication platforms to reach our audiences. The social media landscape is constantly changing, and what might have been fine a few years ago could now get your account flagged, or even deleted.
Why is social media censorship getting worse?
In 2018, new bills called FOSTA/SESTA were passed in the U.S., which purported to be aimed at shutting down websites that enable sex trafficking. In reality, these laws severely restrict on ..read more
