Iga Swiatek has become the first woman to retain the Roland Garros title since Justine Henin in 2007, as she battled to beat Karolina Muchova in a tightly contested final. Swiatek beat Muchova, 6-2 5-7 6-4, with the Pole coming from a break down twice in the deciding set to clinch her third title at the Paris major. The WTA No.1 lead the second set 3-0 before the Czech started to fight back, causing Swiatek to lose a set in a Grand Slam final for the first time. Novak Djokovic is into his 34th Grand Slam final, after a ‘disappointing’ conclusion to his blockbuster clash with Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic beat Alcaraz, 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1, in the Roland Garros semi-final with those last two sets hampered by the Spaniard picking up full body cramps and being unable to move in typical fashion. Jack Draper has announced that he will be missing Wimbledon due to injury, as British tennis faces another setback following Emma Raducanu’s withdrawal from the grass major.
