My journey in health, wellness, and fitness has been a transformative odyssey defined by resilience, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to personal growth. It all began at the tender age of 5 when I immersed myself in gymnastics, honing my agility and strength over a span of 2 years. However, it was my transition to competitive cheerleading with the Flyers All-Stars that truly ignited my passion for athleticism and teamwork. As a team member for 5 years, I excelled as a stunt base, clinching numerous gold medals, including 2 national championships and an international accolade. Unfortuna ..read more

I grew up with no education in fitness or nutrition. We ate cheesy frozen fish sticks, boxed mashed potatoes, and canned green beans. I had my son at 20 and was over 200lbs. Through a series of events, I worked part-time at a gym daycare. I worked out a little and ate kind a healthier and my weight fell off. During this time, my friends did not understand my newfound passion, and I was ostracized and made fun of for my food prep, time at the gym, and going to bed early. I struggled with isolation and self-love even though I felt great and knew I was making healthy choices for myself and my son ..read more

I have a business degree, a public relations Diploma and my nutrition coaching certification from Precision Nutrition. I chose Precision Nutrition for my Nutrition coaching certification because I liked their approach to nutrition as the program goes far beyond nutrition science and focuses on the psychology of behavior change and a more balanced, holistic approach to fitness and nutrition which I believe is much needed in the fitness and nutrition industry. I have almost finished my ISSA (International Sports Science Association) Certified Personal Trainer Certification, I just have to get my ..read more

Status Fitness Magazine
by Anh Lee

The idolization of a skinny physique for women, often influenced by Western beauty standards, has promoted a society that values short-term weight loss and slimness over strength and overall health. To achieve this, many people put their long-term health at risk for short-term gains, unknowingly and ironically, making it harder to sustain a lean physique long term.  In this article, we will explore why the emphasis should be shifted from skinny to healthy to achieve long-term success, the significance of gaining lean muscle to increase basal metabolic rate, and why diet foods are not help ..read more

3 REASONS WOMEN 40+ SHOULD WATCH THEIR PROTEIN INTAKE
Status Fitness Magazine
by Nancy DiNino

They say that 40 is the new 30, thanks to healthier habits. The thing is both your nutritional needs and metabolism (how fast your body converts food into energy) CHANGING with AGE. Yet, I hear it all the time from women who continue to struggle with weight and other medical concerns as they enter their 40s. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “I eat healthy every day and still can’t seem to lose the weight!” When I ask how much protein they are eating, they have no clue. Women over 40 need protein more than ever(as well as healthy fats) to keep their metabolism going. The thing is “ You ..read more

BLOCK OUT THE NOISE

One of the mottos that guide me on my personal fitness journey and advice that I share with my clients early on in their journey, is to block out the noise. I consider “noise” to be any distraction, unsolicited opinion or element that stands in the way and creates unnecessary resistance between you and what you want to achieve. When I started my fitness journey 14 years ago at the age of 14, shortly after losing my mom to breast cancer, I had so many people in my ear telling me things like “Be careful not to overdo it “and “You don’t want to get too bulky “and the famous “Be careful or you’ll ..read more

WHERE DO RESULTS REALLY COME FROM?
Status Fitness Magazine

This is the ultimate question we’re all trying to find the answer to. This includes an infinite number of sub-questions like: How long do I work out? What and when do I eat? How much protein should I consume? Will carbs make me fat? What’s a “healthy” fat and “bad” fat? So where does one even start? Just opening the doors into the fitness abyss can be extremely intimidating to people. This alone is the reason why many don’t start a fitness regime, to begin with. It also doesn’t help when mainstream media demonizes a particular diet strategy one day and then praises it the next. First fats ar ..read more
