NORWALK — The La Mirada softball team relied on strong pitching, quality defense and clutch hitting by junior left fielder Angelina Ratzlaff to defeat rival Gahr 2-1 at Glenn High Thursday night. Cerritos College celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Student Services and Administration Building on Wednesday, Feb. 21, which will serve as a new gateway to the campus for students and the community. A driver was killed after another motorist ran a red light and collided with his pickup truck in Norwalk over the weekend, a sheriff’s sergeant said. Before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, a Honda CR-V heading north on Pioneer Boulevard ran a red light at Lindale Street and hit a Toyota Tacoma, sheriff’s Sgt. Gamielle Marshall said. Detectives are still looking for the assailant who fatally shot one man and wounded a second man in a Norwalk parking lot earlier this month. The two were in a car in the 10600 block of Firestone Boulevard when the shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 2., Sheriff’s Lt. Omar Camacho said. NORWALK — An investigation was underway into the shooting death of a man in Norwalk. The shooting was reported at 6:46 p.m. Saturday in the 10600 block of Firestone Boulevard, near the 605 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Sheriff’s homicide detectives were conducting a crime scene investigation.
