On Line Shop – information for file sizes – Understanding Pixels. ©Jen Hutchison – Coastal Framing and Design 2024 It is important to understand your file sizes for printing. It will save disappointment and time if you have your images print – ready to upload. The files sizes for printing on our online shop need to be between 4MB and 20MB. If your file is too big or too small, it will NOT be uploaded. It it’s too small it will be ‘pixelated’ and not a good quality print. That means that the image will not be smooth, but rather filled with blur and tiny squares of information, which are stretc ..read more

©Jen Hutchison Coastal Framing and Design 2024 Passing down family photos and stories to kids through photo restoration, is like handing them a treasure trove of their own history. It fosters a strong sense of identity, connection, and belonging. It’s a beautiful way to share the quirks, adventures and love that define your family, creating a bridge between generations. Restoring old photos is an enjoyable and worthwhile thing to do. I was recently browsing through our old photo albums and uncovered a trove of family memories that my parents captured with their Box Brownie cameras back in the ..read more

OUR STORY – JEN AND REX
Coastal Framing And Design Blog
by Jen Hutchison

This is a long read – grab your favourite refreshment and settle back. Rex and I have just returned from Grandparents’ Day at our grandchildren’s school. It was a glorious morning, full of gratefulness, recognition, and where the importance of family stories, the wisdom of the older generations, and the hopes for the future in our young children were emphasized. Over morning tea, Mia asked us, “What made you move up here, Rexie? How come you and Granny Jen moved to the Gold Coast?” Well, if that wasn’t applicable to what I’d planned for this blog. Why did we move up here, and what is our story ..read more

BRAND YOUR OFFICE SPACE

This formal home office space is branded with “Brainstorming” which is a common practice in this work place. With many of us having the opportunity to work from home, our home office is becoming our preferred workspace.  We spend most of our day here with our phones on speaker, zooming from one client to the next, dealing with chatbots, shuffling files across one storage account to another, chasing the cloud and generally solving the problems of the world.  But have you considered the aesthetics of your work space and the effect is has on yourself and others.  It’s importan ..read more

Preserving memories with memorabilia framing

My brother’s wife, Carole, is a Dylan Tragic. Over the years, we’ve framed Dylan Memorabilia for her that exceeds all imagination. Records, diaries, posters, prints, concert tickets, gloves, books and sheet music. This collection comes together to make a ‘shrine’ of nostalgia in their home.  Of all of this, the vinyl records and their covers make the best ‘art’ pieces on the wall.   Preserving memories by framing records from iconic artists like Elvis or the Rolling Stones can be captivating. It’s a sentimental way to capture the essence of those unforgettable moments. In this b ..read more

COLOUR TREND FOR 2020
Coastal Framing And Design Blog

It’s late evening and I’m sitting at the computer with the shutters open, the lightning flashing in the distance and the sound of rain on the roof.  It’s been a while since I’ve heard that sound and felt the freshness of the air.  Design trends are like the rain. They come around in due time. Like a clockwork. The Pantone colour trend for 2020 of the year is something we anticipate every January because we know it’s coming. When the announcement is made, there’s a mix of excitement, fresh motivation and a new colour to consider. For some, it can be a huge disappointment. COLOUR ..read more

HOW TO FRAME ABORIGINAL ART WORK

WHAT IS ABORIGINAL ART WORK? Bianca Gardiner Dodd “Life Force” Contemporary Aboriginal Artist, Northern Rivers There is nothing complex about the notion of Aboriginal artwork.  It is simply art that has been created by an Aboriginal person.  The complexity comes with understanding the layers of the visual story and the symbolism used within the rules and cultural permissions of a certain tribe. It is knowing the authentic qualities of the artist and being moved by their perfect and spiritual representation of the land.  These days, the younger generation of artists often co ..read more

VINTAGE EXPLODES FOR 2021

Retro colours, feature walls and plenty of “Illuminating” creates the new look. Vintage explodes for 2021 and I’m so excited that colour is back and plain white walls are gone. Vintage and Retro styling has made it to the forefront of interior design and the colourful and interesting prints adorning our walls are a welcome relief to the plainness that has dominated for the last few years. I love colour and as a Gemini I embrace the creative, the intuitive and having permission to change my mind often, depending on my mood. Colour, texture and pattern are always on my agenda and knowing when an ..read more
