We love framing our customers’ vacation pictures and this shot of the Eiffel Tower is no exception. On a recent vacation in the City of Lights, he set out to get an extraordinary shot of the iconic tower, something, as he put it, different than the usual shots of it sticking straight up against the skyline. Instead, he looked up at one of the legs from a close distance and knew he had the view he wanted. It was a great view, but he wanted more. With a few minutes worth of work in Photoshop he converted it to black and white and added just a hint of graininess for an artistic touch. C’est magni ..read more

Whenever a customer brings up the subject of what sort of art they should buy, we always tell them the same thing: Buy the art you love. Regardless of its cost, age, provenance or who the artist is, art is meant to speak to us and touch us in some way. With that in mind, it’s a safe bet that pictures of our beloved pets, just like the rest of our family, will always touch our hearts and make us smile. That’s why we always love it when a customer brings us their pet’s pictures. Another type of art that makes us smile, and feel pride, is artwork we have created ourselves. This runs the gamut fro ..read more

Mirrors have become a familiar part of home décor. A framed mirror is not only a distinctive focal point, but also a unique way to create the illusion of space. There are many areas throughout your home you can add mirrors. An obvious place is the living room; a large wall mirror with a detailed frame can be just as elegant as an elaborate painting. A well-placed mirror can help give the appearance of more space. Choose a wall that is directly opposite the windows. This allows the mirrors to reflect more light around the room. A large mirror can be a beautiful accent piece in a room. Mirrors i ..read more

If you’ve ever taken a closer look at a framed painting, you have probably noticed a sort of frame of fabric around it inside the frame. This is a fabric liner, basically a frame covered in fabric. It’s a traditional look, and fabric liners act sort of like mats for paintings. They can help introduce color and they provide some visual breathing room between the painting and its frame, and the painting and the room it is in. For a long time, liners were only available in a few colors, usually natural linen, white or black, and only a few different profiles, which is to say shapes and sizes. Tod ..read more

In one of your visits to our store, you may have seen what look like tiny frames on the sample wall. You may have even picked one out for your artwork but found out that they’re not really frames at all. So what are these things that aren’t frames doing in a frame shop? Well, they’re fillets! On Saturday, November 26th, support your local community by shopping small businesses. You might not realize it, but when you choose to buy from a local small business, you’re making a big impact in your community. According to American Express, for every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S., approximately $0.67 cents stays in the local community. That means more money for your friends and neighbors, as well as for local roads and schools. As a small business, we are so grateful you choose to shop with us!   The post Shop Local appeared first on The Great Frame Up ..read more
